Gate Rollers: Sliding Gate Trolleys and Trolley Kits
Gate Rollers are the running trolleys and trolley kits that carry a sliding gate along its rail. The range covers self-supporting (cantilever) and suspended gates, as single trolleys or complete kits with approach roller and bracket. It is aimed at installers and gate builders who need to match the trolley to the rail and gate weight.
What you will find in this category
- Single trolleys for self-supporting gates: 3 to 10 rollers, steel, nylon or plastic rollers, swivel or fixed, 150-1200 kg.
- Trolley kits: two trolleys plus approach roller and approach bracket, mostly for 80x80x5 rail, also 60x60x4, 70x70x4 and 68x68 systems.
- Trolleys for suspended gates: 3-roller models for 50x50, 60x60 and 80x80x5 profiles, 150-350 kg, plus 8-roller versions.
- Trolleys for aluminium profile gates: 5 nylon rollers, 400-600 kg.
- Heavy-duty 8-roller trolleys for 6V.089 and 6V.140 rails.
How to choose
- Rail size: the trolley must match the rail. Sizes include 50x50, 60x60x4, 68x68x3.5, 70x70x4, 80x80x5, 100x89x5 and 140x140x6; 80x80x5 is the most common.
- Load capacity: choose by gate weight, from 150 kg to 1200 kg. For kits, check whether the figure applies to the kit or to each trolley.
- Roller material and number: steel rollers are the most common. Nylon and plastic rollers are also available. Models have 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 rollers.
- Construction: swivel trolleys adapt to the rail through a pivot pin. Many models also offer screw height adjustment.
- Single trolley or kit: a kit supplies two trolleys, approach roller and approach bracket in one package.
Typical applications
These trolleys are used on cantilever sliding gates, where the gate hangs on trolleys running in a rail, and on suspended gates. Heavier trolleys suit industrial gates and lighter ones suit residential gates. Kits help installation companies because all parts come in one matched set.
Frequently asked questions
What does a trolley kit include?
Kits contain two running trolleys, an approach roller and an approach bracket. Some kits add a buffer or an end cap on the roller. Contents differ by kit, so check the product description.
Which rail size is most common?
80x80x5 mm is the most common rail size in this category, followed by 70x70x4 mm and 60x60x4 mm. Other sizes include 68x68, 50x50 and 6V.089 and 6V.140 rails.
What is the benefit of a swivel trolley?
A swivel trolley is connected to its base by a pivot pin. It adjusts to the rail and compensates for minor irregularities in the running track.
