Running rails for sliding gates – steel C-channel profiles
Running rails guide and carry sliding gates. This category contains steel C-channel rails, end caps, an end stop, rail connectors, roller mounting plates and hangers for suspended and self-supporting gates. It is intended for installers and builders who fit driveway and entrance gates.
What you will find in this category
- Steel running rails and tracks: cross-sections from 50×46 mm to 140×140 mm, wall thickness 2-6 mm, lengths 2900-7000 mm.
- End caps and end stop: for profiles from 35×32 mm to 140×140 mm, galvanised steel, closing the rail end.
- Rail connectors: 160 mm long, 4 mm wall thickness, for joining sections of 59×62 mm and 45×46 mm track.
- Mounting plates for rollers: 100×20 mm and 150×25 mm, with a rotating mount and a central pivot.
- Hangers for 35×32 mm rail: side hanger and 110 mm plate hanger for suspended gates.
How to choose
- Gate type: the product descriptions name suspended, self-supporting and cantilever gates. Choose the profile for your system.
- Profile size and wall thickness: rails range from 2 mm wall (50×46 mm) to 6 mm wall (140×140 mm). Heavier gates call for larger, thicker sections.
- Finish: choose hot-dip galvanised, galvanised, black or non-galvanised steel according to the conditions on site.
- Length: most rails are 6000 mm long, with 7000 mm and 2900 mm options. Use connectors where sections must be joined.
- Matching accessories: end caps, connectors and hangers must fit the rail cross-section exactly, for example 35×32 mm or 68×68 mm.
Typical applications
Upper tracks of suspended sliding gates are built from 35×32 mm to 68×68 mm profiles and their hangers. C-channel rails of 60×60 mm to 140×140 mm serve self-supporting and cantilever gates, working with the rollers of the running trolleys. The 100×90×5 mm rail is intended for foundation mounting. End caps protect the open rail end from dirt and moisture.
Frequently asked questions
How do I join two rail sections?
Use a rail connector. The galvanised versions are 160 mm long with 4 mm wall thickness and fit 59×62 mm or 45×46 mm track. They are clamped with 6 screws. Check that the connector matches your profile.
How is an end cap fitted?
The insert section is pressed into the rail and secured with clamping screws. Several end caps, such as the 100×89 mm and 68×68 mm versions, come with mounting screws.
Are all rails galvanised?
No. The 68×68 mm and 140×140 mm rails are hot-dip galvanised, and the 50×46 mm track is galvanised. The 60×60, 70×70 and 80×80 mm rails are non-galvanised, and the 100×90 mm rail is black.
