Square aluminium bars: solid bars for structures and machining

Square bars are solid aluminium profiles in 2000 mm lengths, with side dimensions from 10 mm to 70 mm. They are used for support structures, machine parts, shafts, pins and prototypes. The range is intended for installers, metalworking shops and workshops that cut, turn, mill or drill the material to size.

What you will find in this category

  • Solid square bars in EN AW-6060 T6/T66 (AlMgSi0.5): 10×10, 12×12, 15×15, 20×20, 25×25, 30×30 and 35×35 mm, weighing 0.54-6.62 kg per bar.
  • Solid square bars in duralumin 2017A T4 (EN AW-2017A, AlCu4MgSi): 50×50 mm (14.00 kg) and 70×70 mm (27.44 kg).
  • All bars are 2000 mm long, with a raw, non-anodised surface.

How to choose

  • Alloy: EN AW-6060 T6/T66 is used for sizes 10-35 mm. Sizes 50 mm and 70 mm are in 2017A T4 duralumin, which is aimed at CNC machining.
  • Cross-section: Choose the side dimension from 10 mm to 70 mm to suit the part or structure. A larger section is more rigid but heavier.
  • Weight: Check the linear density if you handle bars by hand or calculate load. Examples are 1.69 kg/m for 25×25 mm and 13.72 kg/m for 70×70 mm.
  • Surface finish: All bars have a raw surface. You can machine them first, then anodise or paint them to suit the project.

Typical applications

The bars are used for support structures, machine components, square-section shafts and pins, prototypes and general metalwork. The AlMgSi0.5 alloy can be turned, milled and drilled without specialist tooling. Aluminium is naturally corrosion-resistant, so no additional protective coating is needed in many conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What length are the square bars?

All bars in this category are 2000 mm long.

Can the bars be anodised or painted?

Yes. The surface is raw and non-anodised, so you can machine the bar and then anodise or paint it as the project requires.

Which bars are suitable for CNC machining?

The 50×50 mm and 70×70 mm bars in 2017A T4 duralumin are listed for CNC machining, turning, milling and drilling. The EN AW-6060 bars also machine well.
