How to choose
- Load capacity: check the rating per pair on a 2 m leaf. Examples: M12 40 kg, M16 65 kg, M18 80 kg, M20 105 kg, and up to 120 kg for one M20 model.
- Thread size: M16 and M20 are the most common in the range. Match the thread to the gate weight.
- Mounting method: choose weld-on, with plate, bolt-on or wall-embedded to suit the leaf and post material.
- Material and finish: galvanised steel suits most outdoor gates. AISI 304 is available where stainless steel is required.
- Adjustment range: compare the stated range, for example 42-62 mm or 50-85 mm, to allow for levelling and sagging.
Typical applications
These hinges are fitted to swing gates, garden gates and wicket gates. Weld-on types go onto steel frames and posts. Plate and built-in types suit steel or masonry structures. The adjusting nut lets you realign a leaf that has sagged or moved with temperature, without dismantling the gate.
Frequently asked questions
Can the gate be adjusted after installation?
Yes. Adjustable hinges have a threaded pin with an adjusting nut. Turning the nut realigns the leaf, for example after sagging, without removing the gate.
What load can a pair of hinges carry?
It depends on the model. Listed ratings per pair on a 2 m leaf include 40 kg (M12), 65 kg (M16), 80 kg (M18) and 105 kg (M20). Check the product data.
Are stainless steel hinges available?
Yes. Nine products are made of AISI 304 stainless steel, in M12 to M20, with satin or raw finish.
