Round aluminium tubes for frames, balustrades and structures
Round tubes in this category are closed-section aluminium profiles with a circular cross-section. All are supplied in 2000 mm lengths with a raw, non-anodised surface. They suit lightweight frames, balustrades, handrails and supporting structures. The range covers outer diameters from Ø8 mm to Ø150 mm and is aimed at installers, metalworkers and builders.
What you will find in this category
- Small tubes, Ø8-Ø20 mm: wall thickness 1-2 mm, weight 0.12-0.64 kg per 2000 mm. For light frames and finishing elements.
- Medium tubes, Ø22-Ø45 mm: wall thickness 1-2 mm. For frames, balustrades and decorative elements.
- Large tubes, Ø50-Ø150 mm: wall thickness 1.5-5 mm, weight 1.24-8.06 kg per 2000 mm. For supporting structures and machine frames.
- Thick-wall tubes, Ø25-Ø40 mm: wall thickness 3-10 mm. The Ø40×10 mm tube has an inner diameter of 20 mm and weighs 5.10 kg.
- Alloys: EN AW-6060 T6 (some T66) and EN AW-6063 T6.
How to choose
- Alloy: choose EN AW-6060 T6 or EN AW-6063 T6 as specified in your project. Both are listed as AlMgSi0.5. The Ø80 mm and Ø90 mm tubes are EN AW-6060 T66.
- Diameter: the range runs from Ø8 mm to Ø150 mm. Ø40 mm is the most common size, with five variants.
- Wall thickness: 1 mm to 10 mm. Thicker walls add weight and rigidity, for example 3.02 kg for Ø40×5 mm against 0.96 kg for Ø40×1.5 mm.
- Surface: all tubes are raw and non-anodised, so they are ready for cutting, drilling, welding or later finishing.
- Weight: check the weight per 2000 mm length when planning handling and installation.
Typical applications
These tubes are used for aluminium constructions, balustrades, handrails, frames and supporting structures. They also suit machine frames, racks, furniture, decorative elements and prototyping. The material can be cut, drilled, bent and joined, so installers can work with standard workshop tools.
Frequently asked questions
Can the tubes be welded?
The Ø40×2 mm tube in EN AW-6060 T6 is described as a MIG/TIG weldable alloy. The product descriptions also list welding, riveting and bonding as joining methods for these tubes.
Can I anodise or powder coat the tubes?
Yes. The surface is raw and non-anodised, so the descriptions list anodising, powder coating and polishing as options. The tubes can also be left in their natural state.
Which tube has the thickest wall?
The Ø40×10 mm tube in EN AW-6063 T6 has a 10 mm wall and a 20 mm inner diameter. Its weight is 5.10 kg for 2000 mm.
