Steel chains: galvanised technical chain for securing and fastening
This category contains galvanised technical chain to DIN 5685/A with short welded links, in rod diameters from 2.0 to 12.0 mm. It is used for securing, fastening, fencing off areas and technical suspensions. The chain is sold by the running metre, for installers, builders and agricultural or household users. It is not for lifting loads.
What you will find in this category
- Fine chain, Ø2.0-3.0 mm: link size 9.0 × 18.0 to 12.5 × 23.0 mm, breaking strength 0.78-4.15 kN, 0.06-0.13 kg/m.
- Medium chain, Ø4.0-6.0 mm: link size 16.0 × 27.0 to 23.0 × 36.0 mm, breaking load 6.8-24 kN, 0.28-0.68 kg/m.
- Heavy chain, Ø7.0-8.0 mm: link size 27.0 × 41.0 to 30.0 × 50.0 mm, breaking load 32.7-49.2 kN, 0.89-1.19 kg/m.
- Extra heavy chain, Ø10.0-12.0 mm: link size 38.0 × 60.0 to 48.0 × 73.0 mm, breaking load 74-84 kN, 1.86-2.98 kg/m.
How to choose
- Diameter and breaking load: pick the rod diameter from the required breaking load, which ranges from 0.78 kN to 84 kN.
- Link size: check the external link dimensions against hooks, shackles or fittings, from 9.0 × 18.0 mm to 48.0 × 73.0 mm.
- Weight: the chain weighs 0.06-2.98 kg/m, which matters for suspended or long runs.
- Environment: the zinc coating protects against corrosion, for indoor and outdoor use.
- Supply length: the chain is sold by the metre. Roll lengths are approx. 8 m to 120 m, depending on diameter.
Typical applications
Technical chain is used to secure and fasten components, fence off zones and passageways, and make technical suspensions. It also suits agricultural and household work. The heavier sizes are also used for cordoning off. The chain is not a lifting sling and must not be used for hoisting loads.
Frequently asked questions
Can this chain be used for lifting?
No. It is technical chain, not a lifting sling. It is intended for fastening, securing and cordoning off, not for hoisting loads.
How is the chain supplied?
It is sold by the running metre. Full rolls are approx. 110 m for Ø2.0 mm, 120 m for Ø3.0 mm, 36 m for Ø6.0 mm, 26 m for Ø7.0 mm, 20 m for Ø8.0 mm, 12 m for Ø10.0 mm and 8 m for Ø12.0 mm.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The links are welded and zinc coated, which protects against corrosion indoors and outdoors.
