Solar DC, earthing and lightning protection cables

Our Cables category covers single-core solar DC cables for photovoltaic installations, an earthing conductor and two cables for lightning protection systems. It is aimed at installers and electrical contractors who connect modules, strings and inverters, or who need protective and lightning conductors. Most products are rated 1.5 kV DC.

What you will find in this category

  • Solar DC cables H1Z2Z2-K, 4, 6 and 10 mm², black or red, tinned copper conductor, halogen-free, -40°C to +90°C.
  • Solar cables with anti-rodent additive (AR), 4, 6 and 10 mm², black or red, 1.5 kV DC.
  • Flame-retardant solar cables, CPR class B2ca-s1,d0,a1, in 4, 6 and 10 mm².
  • Solarflex-X double-insulated solar cables from HELUKABEL, 4 and 6 mm², 1.5 kV DC.
  • LgY earthing cable, 16 mm², yellow-green, PVC insulation, 450/750 V.
  • Lightning protection cables: 50 mm² aluminium and 35 mm² copper (150 kA / 200 kV).

How to choose

  • Application: 22 products are solar DC cables, 2 are for lightning protection and 1 is for earthing.
  • Cross-section: solar cables come in 4, 6 and 10 mm². Choose according to your string design.
  • Rodent protection: pick an AR version where mice, rats, martens or termites are a risk. Six products have it.
  • CPR fire class: the range includes class D (Dca) and class B2 (B2ca-s1,d0,a1). Check the class required for the building.
  • Conductor and colour: 24 products have a copper conductor and one has aluminium. Solar cables are available in black and red.

Typical applications

Solar DC cables connect modules to each other and to module strings, and link modules to the inverter. The MG Wires class D cables are described for roof-mounted, ground-mounted and indoor installations. They are also suitable for direct burial. The LgY cable is used for protective conductors in distribution boards and electrical systems. The high-voltage cables are for lightning protection installations.

Frequently asked questions

Can the solar cables be buried directly?

The MG Wires class D cables in 4 and 6 mm² are described as suitable for direct burial. Check the product description for other cables before burying them.

What voltage and temperature range do the solar cables have?

The solar cables are rated 1.5 kV DC and operate from -40°C to +90°C. The Solarflex-X 6 mm² black cable is also rated 1000 VAC.

Which cables protect against rodents?

The AR cables in 4, 6 and 10 mm² contain an anti-rodent additive in the sheath. The 6 mm² red version is described as deterring mice, rats, martens and termites.
