Power Switches: I-0-II Changeover Switches for Mains and Generator

Our power switches are modular I-0-II (1-0-2) changeover switches from Hager. They switch manually between two power sources, for example the mains supply and a generator. The range covers single-phase and three-phase versions from 40 A to 63 A. It is intended for installers and panel builders who need a safe changeover in emergencies.

What you will find in this category

  • Two-pole changeover switch, I-0-II, 2P 40 A 230 V AC (SFT240), common point from the top.
  • Four-pole changeover switch, I-0-II, 4P 40 A 400 V AC (SFT440), DIN rail mounting, 4 modules wide.
  • Modular power switch, I-0-II, 3P+N 63 A 400 V AC (SF463), for circuits up to 63 A.

How to choose

  • Number of poles: choose 2P for 230 V AC circuits. Choose 4P or 3P+N for 400 V AC three-phase circuits.
  • Rated current: the range offers 40 A and 63 A. Match the switch to the load of the circuit being switched.
  • Voltage: the switches are rated for 230 V AC or 400 V AC at 50/60 Hz.
  • Durability: the SFT440 is stated at 200,000 mechanical cycles and the SF463 at 100,000. Consider this if the switch will be operated often.
  • Terminals: the SFT440 accepts cables of 1.5-16 mm2 with a tightening torque of 1.8 Nm. The SF463 lists 16 mm² for flexible wire.

Typical applications

These switches are used to change over between the mains and a generator. They also switch power and control circuits in emergency situations. The SFT440 is described as suitable for typical three-phase residential, commercial and light-industrial installations. The common point at the top makes wiring in the switchboard easier to organise.

Frequently asked questions

What does I-0-II (1-0-2) mean?

It is the switching arrangement of these devices. They are designed for manually switching between two power sources, for example the mains supply and a generator.

Which switch suits a three-phase installation?

The SFT440 (4P, 40 A, 400 V AC) and the SF463 (3P+N, 63 A, 400 V AC) are rated for 400 V AC. The SFT240 is a 2P, 230 V AC version.

How is the SFT440 mounted?

It mounts on a DIN rail and is 4 modules wide. The common point is brought out at the top.
