Description
Hook with a swivel eye and safety latch for rope and chain slings; C45 steel, zinc plating + paint
About the product
The swivel hook with safety catch is used as an end fitting for a rope or chain sling. It has an eye that rotates relative to the hook and a safety latch at the throat.
The hook's rated load is 1500 kg and must not be lower than the sling's working load limit. Eye dimension B is 40 mm — select a connector (shackle, link) that fits within it. Dimension E = 27 mm is the throat opening at the latch, and R = 150 mm denotes the dimension from the inside of the eye to the hook bowl. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's datasheet (dimensional tolerance ±5% as stated in the datasheet). Seat the load in the hook bowl, not on the tip; the latch must close freely.
Material: C45 steel. Coating: zinc-coated and lacquered. The breaking load is 7500 kg according to the manufacturer's datasheet and is not the working load. The sling's working load limit depends on its weakest component and operating angle — it is specified by the design or the sling instructions. Do not use the hook for lifting people. Inspect the hook before each use; if you notice cracks, deformation, a spread throat or a faulty latch, withdraw it from service.
Selection and installation
- ✓Check that the hook's rated load is not lower than the sling's working load limit.
- ✓Seat the load in the hook bowl, not on the tip; the latch must close freely.
- ✓Inspect the hook before each use; if you notice cracks, deformation, a spread throat or a faulty latch, withdraw it from service.
Important
Do not use the hook for lifting people. The sling's working load limit depends on its weakest component and operating angle – it is specified by the design or the sling instructions.
