Starflex FZ129 – P60 zirconia fibre disc for stainless steel 125 mm

Starflex FZ129 fibre disc with zirconia grain of P60 grit is a professional abrasive tool designed for intensive working of stainless steel. Thanks to the use of zirconium oxide (ZrO₂), the disc maintains sharpness significantly longer than conventional corundum discs — zirconia grain possesses self-sharpening properties, which translates into stable grinding performance throughout the service life.

Fibre discs with zirconia grain stand out from standard corundum abrasives with several significant features. Zirconium oxide is exceptionally hard and tough — thanks to this, the grain does not chip suddenly, but gradually exposes new, sharp cutting edges. This self-sharpening mechanism ensures the disc works efficiently for significantly longer time, which directly translates to lower consumption of consumables and reduced machining costs at the workstation.

Purpose and Application

The FZ129 P60 fibre disc is designed primarily for working stainless steel, but will also perform well when grinding alloy steels and other difficult-to-machine metals. P60 grit provides optimal compromise between material removal efficiency and finish quality — ideally suited for preliminary grinding, weld levelling and removing surface irregularities.

The disc is mounted on an angle grinder with backing pad of diameter 125 mm and bore 22 mm. During work, personal protective equipment must be used — protective gloves, goggles or protective face shield and hearing protection, in accordance with product markings.
