Insulation foil for underfloor heating is a multi-layer laminate comprising polyethylene film and a metallised polypropylene layer. Used as a protective and installation layer over insulation (e.g. polystyrene boards), it simplifies pipe routing and helps protect the substrate during screed application.
Why choose it? The metallised surface can help reduce heat loss by directing a portion of the energy back towards the room, while simultaneously acting as a protective barrier for the insulation. At a thickness of 105 µm, it is easy to lay and does not significantly increase the overall floor build-up height.
Faster installation thanks to a practical printed grid. The upper surface features a printed grid: solid lines forming a 10 cm square grid and dashed lines forming a 5 cm square grid. This makes pipe layout faster and more precise – with no additional measuring required. A 2 cm overlap margin along the edge simplifies joining successive strips of foil, streamlining work on larger floor areas.
Insulation protection and secure clip anchoring. The foil acts as a barrier protecting polystyrene boards from moisture and contamination during screed pouring. It can also facilitate work with fixing clips and reduce the risk of point damage to the insulation.
Floor perimeter zone. The foil can be turned up at the walls, helping to maintain cleanliness and protect the floor layers. To minimise perimeter heat losses, it is essential to use an edge expansion strip and ensure the floor layers are correctly constructed.
A clean surface free from unnecessary markings. The absence of additional graphics (e.g. large logos) keeps the printed grid clear and neat, making it easier to lay the foil evenly across the entire surface.
