Quick choice

ApplicationAttachment point in a M20 tapped hole – for ropes, chains and rigging equipment
SelectionRated load 1200 kg according to the manufacturer's datasheet; when pulling at an angle to the axis, the permissible load is lower – select according to the design
ConditionsThe zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions; in the event of contact with salt, chemicals or constant moisture, choose a version suitable for the exposure conditions

About the product

The eye bolt is used to create an attachment point for ropes, chains and rigging equipment in a tapped hole. It has an eye with a collar and a thread that screws into the hole. The product complies with standard DIN 580.

The bolt thread is M20 — the thread in the hole must match. The bolt thread length A is 30 mm; the thread in the hole must be at least this long. The external eye diameter D is 72 mm, and the internal eye diameter Ø is 40 mm. Height H is 71 mm. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's datasheet (dimensional tolerance ±5% as stated in the datasheet). Screw the bolt in until the collar is fully seated against the surface — the entire face of the collar must be in contact with it. Before attaching a rope or chain, align the plane of the eye with the direction of loading.

Material: C15 steel. Coating: zinc-coated. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under normal conditions; where there is contact with salt, chemicals or persistent moisture, choose the material according to the exposure conditions. The rated load of 1200 kg stated in the manufacturer's datasheet applies to a correctly screwed-in component. When pulling at an angle to the axis, the permissible load is lower, and the working load for a specific application is determined by the design. The breaking load is 7060 kg and is not the working load. Do not use the component for lifting people.

Selection and installation

  • ✓Check the thread in the hole: it must match the bolt thread M20 and be at least 30 mm long.
  • ✓Screw the bolt in until the collar is fully seated against the surface – the entire face of the collar must be in contact with it.
  • ✓Align the plane of the eye with the direction of loading before attaching a rope or chain.

Important

The rated load stated in the datasheet applies to a correctly screwed-in component; it is lower when loaded at an angle. Do not use the component for lifting people. The working load for a specific application is determined by the design.
