Description
U-shaped clamp made from rod threaded at both ends – for securing pipes and round bars; galvanised finish
About the product
A U-bolt is a U-shaped (curved) clamp made from rod threaded at both ends. It is used to secure pipes, masts and round bars to beams, posts and structures.
In the manufacturer's designation M12 × 61 mm, M12 indicates the thread, and 61 mm is the internal spacing between the legs A. The product is intended for 2" pipe – select the U-bolt to suit the outside diameter of the pipe being secured. Values are nominal, in accordance with the manufacturer's dimensional designation; leg and thread lengths in the drawing are for illustration only. During installation, pass the legs through the holes in the substrate or in a U-bolt backing plate of the same size. Tighten the M12 nuts alternately on both sides until the clamp sits evenly against the pipe.
The coating (zinc-coated) protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions. In the event of contact with salt, chemicals or constant moisture, choose a finish suitable for the exposure conditions. The load capacity of the fixing depends on the substrate, the pipe and the tightening force – it is determined by the design.
