Description
Forged open-body turnbuckle for tensioning and adjusting the tension of wire ropes, guy wires and mesh; hak–oko end fittings, galvanised steel
About the product
This forged turnbuckle is used for tensioning and adjusting the tension of steel wire ropes, guy wires and mesh. It features an open body and hak–oko end fittings. Rotating the body adjusts the length of the turnbuckle and thereby the tension.
The designation M8 indicates the thread, and 110 mm is the body length L. Dimension L1 is 54 mm and is measured from each side of the body to the end of the rod. The hook opening E is 10.5 mm, and the internal eye diameter Ø is 10 mm. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's data sheet (with a tolerance of ±5%). Standard: DIN 1480. Before installation, unscrew the end fittings evenly, leaving sufficient thread available on both sides for tensioning. Attach them, then tension by rotating the body – do not rotate the end fittings. After tensioning, secure the body against unintentional loosening, for example with wire passed through the body and end fittings.
Material: low-alloy structural steel; coating: zinc-coated. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions. In the event of contact with salt, chemicals or constant moisture, choose a finish suitable for the exposure conditions. The minimum breaking load of 6.05 kN stated in the manufacturer's data sheet is the minimum value at failure, not the working load. The working load is determined by the design using an appropriate safety factor. The turnbuckle must not be used for lifting loads or for personal fall protection.
Selection and installation
- ✓Before installation, unscrew the end fittings evenly – leave sufficient thread available on both sides for tensioning.
- ✓Attach the end fittings, then tension by rotating the body; do not rotate the end fittings.
- ✓After tensioning, secure the body against unintentional loosening, e.g. with wire passed through the body and end fittings.
Important
The turnbuckle must not be used for lifting loads or for personal fall protection. The minimum breaking load is not the working load – the working load is determined by the design using an appropriate safety factor.
