Description
D shackle (straight) with a screw pin for connecting ropes, chains and slings; galvanised steel
About the product
A D shackle (straight) with a screw pin is used for connecting ropes, chains, slings, ropes with thimbles and attachment points. It provides a detachable connection.
The pin diameter d is 28 mm and its thread is M28. Dimension B is the internal width and H is the internal height of the shackle. The shackle clearance is therefore 56 × 106 mm; check that the components to be connected fit within it. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's datasheet. Select the shackle to suit the load – do not exceed the working load limit of 3000 kg. Screw the pin fully home, and for a permanent connection, secure it against unscrewing, for example with wire through the eye in the pin head.
Material: C10–C15 steel. Coating: zinc-coated. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion in typical conditions. In case of contact with salt, chemicals or constant moisture, select a finish suited to the exposure conditions. The working load limit applies to in-line loading along the shackle's axis; side loading reduces load capacity. The breaking load of 9000 kg stated in the manufacturer's datasheet is not the working load limit. The shackle must not be used for lifting loads over people or for personal fall protection.
Selection and installation
- ✓Select the shackle to suit the load – do not exceed the working load limit of 3000 kg.
- ✓Check that the components to be connected fit within the shackle clearance B × H = 56 × 106 mm.
- ✓Screw the pin fully home; for a permanent connection, secure it against unscrewing (e.g. with wire through the eye in the pin head).
Important
The shackle must not be used for lifting loads over people or for personal fall protection. The working load limit applies to in-line loading along the shackle's axis; side loading reduces load capacity.
