Description
Forged shackle with a rounded bow and screw pin – for connecting slings, ropes and chains; galvanised body
About the product
A forged bow shackle is used to connect slings, ropes and chains. It features a rounded bow and a screw pin. The bow accommodates several components at once.
The size in inches is 1/2". The bow diameter is 12 mm and the pin diameter is 16 mm. The internal dimensions are: inside jaw width 21 mm, internal height 47 mm and internal bow radius 17 mm. The lug diameter is 31 mm and the overall height is 84 mm. These are nominal values according to the supplier's dimension table. Do not exceed the working load limit of 2 t – this applies to in-line loading along the shackle's axis. When using several slings in the bow, allow for the included angle. Screw the pin fully home and, for a permanent connection, secure it against unscrewing, e.g. with wire mouseing through the hole in the pin collar.
Material: drop-forged alloy steel, quenched and tempered. Finish: zinc-coated body, painted pin. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions; where exposed to salt, chemicals or constant moisture, select a version suited to the exposure conditions. The breaking load of 8 t is not the working load limit; the safety factor is 4:1. Standard: EN 13889 (loads, safety factor and standard according to the supplier's data). Inspect the shackle and pin before each use – do not use components that are deformed, cracked or have damaged threads. For lifting loads, use in accordance with regulations and the equipment documentation.
Selection and installation
- ✓Select a shackle to suit the load – do not exceed the working load limit of 2 t.
- ✓When using several slings in the bow, allow for the included angle – the working load limit applies to in-line loading along the shackle's axis.
- ✓Screw the pin fully home; for a permanent connection, secure it against unscrewing (e.g. with wire through the eye in the pin head).
Important
Inspect the shackle and pin before each use – do not use components that are deformed, cracked or have damaged threads. For lifting loads, use in accordance with regulations and the equipment documentation.
