Description
Threaded rod ending in a closed eye – for screwing into a metric thread and suspending ropes, chains and items on a carabiner; property class 5.8 steel, zinc-plated
About the product
An eye hook with a metric thread is a threaded rod ending in a closed eye. It is used for suspending ropes, cords, chains and items fitted with a carabiner. The threaded section screws into an internally threaded component (an anchor sleeve, nut or tapped hole).
The designation M8 specifies the hook's metric thread – the anchor sleeve, nut or tapped hole must have a matching internal thread. The overall length H is 80 mm, measured from the end of the thread to the furthest point of the bent section. The available thread length L1 is 40 mm, and the outside diameter of the bend Dz is 29 mm. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's table. Screw the hook in to the depth required by the mating component; secure any thread projecting beyond it with a locknut. After installation, align the eye with the direction of the load and do not apply sideways loads to the hook at the bend.
The material is steel of property class 5.8, and the coating is electro-galvanised. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions. Where exposed to salt, chemicals or persistent moisture, choose a version suitable for the exposure conditions. The manufacturer does not specify the hook's load capacity, and the stated property class applies only to the steel itself. The permissible load depends on the substrate and fixing method – it is specified by the design or the anchor manufacturer. Do not use the hook for lifting loads or for personal fall protection.
Selection and installation
- ✓Match the mating component's thread to M8 – an internally threaded anchor, nut or sleeve.
- ✓Screw the hook in to the depth required by the mating component (available thread: L1 = 40 mm); secure any thread projecting beyond the component with a locknut.
- ✓After installation, align the eye with the direction of the load; do not apply sideways loads to the hook at the bend.
Important
The manufacturer does not specify the hook's load capacity. The permissible load depends on the substrate and fixing method – it is specified by the design or the anchor manufacturer. Do not use the hook for lifting loads or for personal fall protection.
