Description
Countersunk timber screw with TX25 drive and 35 mm partial thread; low-carbon steel, electro-galvanised
About the product
The timber screw is used to join timber components. It has a countersunk head, a Torx drive (TX25) and a partial thread. The head pulls flush into the timber. The product is sold in a pack of 250.
The size 5 × 60 mm indicates a nominal diameter of 5 mm and an overall length L of 60 mm (including the head). The thread length Lt is 35 mm, and the head diameter Dk ranges from 9.5 to 10 mm. These are nominal dimensions according to the supplier's dimensional data sheet. Drive the screw using a TX25 bit. Select the pilot hole size to suit the timber species. Pre-drill the timber near the edges of the component to reduce the risk of splitting.
The screw material is low-carbon steel, and the coating is electro-galvanised. The zinc coating protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions. In the event of contact with salt, chemicals or constant moisture, choose a finish suitable for the exposure conditions. The screw dimensions do not determine the load capacity of a specific connection. This depends on factors including the timber, the embedment depth and the connection configuration – it is determined by the design.
Selection and installation
- ✓Choose the pilot hole for the type of timber.
- ✓Pre-drill near the edges of the element – this reduces the risk of splitting.
- ✓Drive in with a TX25 bit.
Important
The screw dimensions do not define the load capacity of a particular joint. The load capacity depends, among other things, on the timber, the screw-in depth and the joint layout – it is set by the design.
