Description

Beam Angle Bracket KB – Steel Connector for Timber Structures

Technical Specifications KB-01

  • Dimensions: 101 × 76 × 30 mm
  • Sheet thickness: 3.0 mm
  • Fixing holes: Ø 4.5 mm
  • Material: S235 steel with yellow electro-galvanised coating
  • Fire reaction class: A1 (non-combustible)

The KB beam angle bracket is a robust, three-dimensional connector made from galvanised steel, designed for fast and durable joining of timber elements. Its defining feature is the staggered arrangement of fixing holes, which prevents nails from being driven into the same wood grain, reducing the risk of splitting. It is ideal wherever you need a stable, rigid connection — from roof trusses and pergolas to decking frames and garden shelters.

Example connection using the KB connector
Example connection using the KB connector

The connector is manufactured from heavy-gauge S235 steel plate finished with a yellow electro-galvanised coating, providing effective corrosion protection and long service life even in demanding conditions. KB angle brackets carry fire reaction class A1 — a non-combustible material rating, which is significant in the context of fire safety requirements.

Ease of installation is the key advantage of the KB series. Standard fixings are all that is required — ring-shank nails Ø4 mm, or timber screws Ø4 mm or Ø6 mm. Screws and nails are driven directly into the timber substrate, with no pre-drilling required.

Features and Benefits

  • Quick installation: no pre-drilling required — nails and screws driven directly into timber
  • Stability and rigidity: three-dimensional design ensures a secure angular connection
  • Corrosion protection: electro-galvanised coating provides long-term durability
  • Fire class A1: non-combustible material
  • High-quality finish: neat appearance suitable for exposed timber structures
  • Enhanced safety: staggered holes reduce the risk of timber splitting

Installation notes: timber elements to be joined should be free from defects such as knots, cracks or rot, as these reduce the strength of the connection. For joints made using three-dimensional connectors, ring-shank nails with a diameter of 4 mm and a minimum length of 50 mm should be used, or other ring-shank nails in accordance with EN 14592 with a diameter of 4 mm and a characteristic load-bearing capacity of not less than 1.55 kN.
