Description
Oval ferrule for forming loops and joining steel wire ropes by swaging; aluminium, EN 13411-3
About the product
The oval ferrule is used for forming loops and joining steel wire ropes by swaging. Both sections of rope are passed through its opening, and the ferrule is then swaged using a swaging tool. A wire rope thimble can be placed in the loop if required.
The ferrule size corresponds to the rope diameter — this model is designed for 6 mm rope. A and B indicate the internal dimensions of the opening: A is the width of 6.6 mm, and B is the length of 13.2 mm. The opening accommodates two sections of rope. S indicates the wall thickness, which is 2.5 mm, while L is the ferrule length, which is 21 mm. These are nominal values according to the manufacturer's technical data sheet. Before swaging, position the ferrule so that the free end of the rope protrudes slightly beyond it. Use a swaging tool with a die matched to the ferrule size; do not crimp it with a hammer or combination pliers.
The material is aluminium, and the ferrule is uncoated. The standard specified for the product is EN 13411-3. The product is not intended for lifting loads or personal fall protection without calculations and swaging in accordance with the standard. The strength of the connection depends on the rope and the quality of the swaging.
