Description
Zinc-plated washer head timber screw TX40 8.0×140 mm – partially threaded – pack of 50

The 8.0×140 mm washer head timber screw with Torx TX40 drive is a fastener for timber structures. The large washer head presses the joined components together over a wide area, while the Torx drive holds the bit securely during installation.
The screw has a partial thread, and the smooth part of the shank allows the timber components to be pulled tightly together. The electroplated zinc coating protects the surface of the steel shank against corrosion. Supplied in a pack of 50.

Application and selection
- Timber structures and connections between wooden components.
- Joining thicker timber components where a length of 140 mm is required.
- Connections where the head should not sink into the timber and the clamping force needs to be distributed over a larger area.
- Work in dry conditions where the basic corrosion protection provided by electroplated zinc is sufficient.
Washer head timber screws are used to join structural timber because the wide head acts as an integrated washer. When selecting the length, consider the combined thickness of the components and ensure that the partial thread engages in the receiving component while the smooth part of the shank sits in the component being clamped.
Installation and use
Install the screw using a power screwdriver with a Torx TX40 bit seated in the head. A correctly fitting bit reduces the risk of the tool slipping during installation. Low-carbon steel with an electroplated zinc coating is a common choice for timber fasteners used in dry conditions.
