Description
Washer head timber screw, zinc-plated, TX40, 8.0×300 mm – partially threaded – pack of 50

The Washer head timber screw is a fastener for structural timber connections. Its washer head applies pressure over a large area, while the Torx TX40 drive provides secure bit engagement during installation.
The 8.0×300 mm version with a partial thread is designed for joining large-section timber components such as beams, rafters, wall plates and timber frame members. The unthreaded shank beneath the head allows the joined components to be pulled together, while the threaded section anchors the screw in the second component.
The screws are made from low-carbon steel with an electro-zinc plated coating that protects the steel against corrosion under typical conditions of use. The pack contains 50 screws, and one unit purchased in the shop corresponds to the entire pack.

Applications
- Structural connections between large-section timber components
- Assembly of roof trusses and timber frame structures
- Joining beams, posts and rafters, including with timber angle brackets
- Installation with a power screwdriver and Torx bit for secure tool engagement
Washer head timber screws are used where additional washers are not needed and pressure must be distributed over a larger area of timber. The zinc-plated coating is suitable for indoor work and structures sheltered from direct exposure to water.

Screw design
- Washer head distributes pressure over a larger area of timber
- Torx drive reduces bit slippage
- Partial thread allows the joined components to be pulled together
- Electro-zinc plating protects the steel surface

Selecting the screw
Select the screw length according to the thickness of the components being joined so that the threaded section anchors in the second component and the unthreaded shank passes through the component being clamped. For large-section timber, screws with a larger diameter and longer thread are used.

Use in timber structures
Screws of this type are commonly used in carpentry and timber construction where a strong, durable connection is needed without pre-drilling large holes. The Torx drive holds the bit securely in the head, making it easier to install long screws with a power screwdriver.
