Description
Washer head timber screw, zinc-plated, TX40, 8.0×260 mm – partially threaded – pack of 50

A Washer head timber screw is a fastener for timber joints, with a washer head that clamps the joined components over a large surface area. The Torx drive provides secure bit engagement during installation, while the partial thread allows the components to be pulled together.
The screw is made of low-carbon steel with an electroplated zinc coating. Each shop item is a full pack of 50 screws.
Timber screws of this type are used in timber structures to join beams, rafters, wall plates and roof frame components, as well as wherever thicker components need to be screwed together without prior anchoring. The large washer head eliminates the need for a separate washer, while the partial thread allows the smooth section of the shank to pass through the component being fixed as the thread anchors in the receiving component.

Applications and selection
- Timber structures and timber joints requiring a large clamping surface under the head
- Joining thicker timber components, such as roof frame members
- Installation with a power driver and Torx bit
When selecting the screw length, consider the thickness of the component being fixed and the depth to which the thread must anchor in the receiving component. Low-carbon steel with an electroplated zinc coating is commonly used for timber fasteners in typical structural applications.

Screw construction
- Washer head with a large clamping surface
- Milled section of the shank at the transition to the thread
- Partial thread at the end of the shank
- Torx drive in the head
