Description
Washer head timber screw, zinc-plated, TX40, 8.0×180 mm – partially threaded – pack of 50

The Washer head timber screw is a fastener for timber structures where a large clamping surface is important. It is supplied in a pack of 50, making it easy to plan stock for a project.
The washer head clamps the joined components over a larger area than a standard head, making this type of screw suitable for joining beams, rafters and other timber structural components. The Torx drive ensures reliable torque transfer from the bit to the screw and reduces the risk of the tool slipping.
Partial threading means that only the end section of the shank is threaded. The smooth section passes through the component being fastened, while the thread anchors into the base component, drawing the joined parts together as the screw is driven in.
Low-carbon steel with an electroplated zinc coating is a standard solution for timber fasteners: the steel provides suitable strength, while the zinc coating protects the surface.
Applications
- Timber structures and roof frames
- Joining beams, rafters, posts and sill plates
- Fixing angle brackets and timber connectors to wood
- Carpentry work requiring a large clamping surface under the head
Screws of this type are selected according to the thickness of the joined components and the tool used: a matching Torx bit allows the screw to be driven without slipping. Longer partially threaded screws are used when joining components with larger cross-sections.
