SolarEdge S500 PV Power Optimiser – Module-Level MPPT
Description
SolarEdge S500 PV Power Optimiser – Module-Level MPPT

The SolarEdge S500 power optimiser is an advanced device designed to individually track the maximum power point (MPPT) of each PV module. This allows installations based on SolarEdge inverters to maintain high voltage in the circuit, resulting in higher overall system efficiency. The optimiser effectively reduces losses caused by module non-homogeneity — both those resulting from manufacturing tolerances and from partial panel shading. The device is fully compatible with bifacial modules, enabling the design of modern PV systems without limitations. The built-in SafeDC system automatically reduces the circuit voltage to a safe level in the event of inverter or grid shutdown, or fire, ensuring the protection of installers and emergency services. In addition, the optimiser detects abnormal PV connection behaviour, preventing potential safety issues. Each module is monitored individually via the SolarEdge monitoring system, providing full control over installation performance. Simplified wiring and single-bolt mounting speed up the installation process.
Key benefits
- Individual MPPT tracking at each panel level increases the installation's energy output
- The SafeDC system automatically reduces voltage to a safe level, protecting installers and emergency services during faults or fire
- Detection of abnormal PV connection behaviour prevents potential safety issues
- Flexible system design allows maximum use of available roof space
- Compatibility with bifacial modules and quick single-bolt installation
