Description
Rectangular tube insert 40×80 mm, grey
The grey Rectangular tube insert 40×80 mm is a finishing component for closing the open ends of hollow tubes. Made from polyethylene, it closes the tube end when fitted and gives it a neat, finished appearance.
Push-fit design – the ribbed shank fits inside the tube and is held in place by its fins, while the external flange covers the tube edge. The insert is designed for tubes with a wall thickness of 1.5–3.0 mm, allowing the same size to be used with several wall thicknesses.
Applications
- Closing the ends of rectangular tubes in load-bearing structures, frames and supports
- Finishing bases, supports and structural components made from hollow tubes
- Providing a neat finish for visible tube ends in a neutral grey colour
- Closing open tube ends after cutting, during installation in the workshop or on site
Selection and installation
Rectangular tube inserts are selected according to the nominal tube dimensions and wall thickness. To install, press the shank into the open end of the tube until the flange rests against its edge; the fins on the shank hold the insert in place. Before ordering, check the dimensions in the tables below and compare them with the actual tube. Polyethylene is a material commonly used to make tube inserts.
