Description
Countersunk timber screw, zinc-plated, TX25, 5.0×50 mm – partially threaded – pack of 250

The countersunk timber screw is a fastener for structural timber connections. The countersunk head sits flush with the timber surface, while the Torx TX25 drive allows it to be driven with a Torx bit and transfers torque from the driver.
The screw is partially threaded: the section near the tip is threaded, while the smooth shank near the head allows the attached component to be pulled tightly against the supporting material. Screws of this type are used to join beams, rafters, battens and other roof framing and timber structural components.
Material and protection
The screw is made from low-carbon steel with an electro-zinc-plated coating, which provides basic surface protection against corrosion. Electro-zinc plating is generally chosen for use in dry interiors and locations not exposed to high levels of moisture.

Applications and selection
- Timber structures and roof framing components
- Connections where the head needs to sit flush with the timber surface
- Fastening components that need to be pulled tightly together using the smooth shank near the head
- Carpentry and installation work using a power screwdriver with a Torx bit
When selecting the screw length, take into account the thickness of the components being joined so that the threaded section anchors into the receiving component. The manufacturer offers a range of lengths for 5.0 mm screws, making it easier to select the right size for different connections.
