Description
Countersunk timber screw, zinc-plated, TX20, 4.0×40 mm – partially threaded – pack of 1000

A Countersunk timber screw is a structural fastener for timber, designed for carpentry and installation work. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface of the wood, creating a neat joint without a protruding head.
The Torx drive is used with a matching bit, and the partial thread means that part of the shank near the head remains smooth. This design is typical of structural screws, where the thread engages in the receiving component and the smooth section lies in the component being clamped.
The screw is made of low-carbon steel protected by electro-zinc plating. The zinc coating provides basic corrosion protection under typical indoor conditions and in dry environments. The product is supplied in a bulk pack suitable for larger orders.
Applications
- Joining timber components in carpentry structures
- Carpentry and installation work involving timber components
- Joints where the head needs to sit flush with the timber surface
- Fixings where the joined components need to be pulled together

Shank design
The shank consists of a smooth section under the head, a section with milling ribs and a threaded section ending in a sharp point. The notch in the thread and the milling ribs are typical features of timber screws.
When selecting the screw length, consider the thickness of the timber components so that the threaded part of the shank sits in the component to which the other component is being fixed.

Timber screws with a Torx drive are installed using a power screwdriver fitted with the correct size bit. The countersunk head has ribs underneath that allow it to recess into the timber surface, as is typical of this type of screw.

The pack of 1000 makes it easy to supply a team with one screw size for repetitive carpentry joints. One shop listing corresponds to one bulk pack.
