Steel wire ropes: galvanised rope for fencing, guying and winches

This category contains galvanised steel wire ropes from Ø1.0 mm to Ø16.0 mm, sold by the running metre. They are used for fencing, guy wires, cable balustrades, construction work and winch systems. The range suits installers, builders and agricultural users who need rope cut to length from a factory reel.

What you will find in this category

  • 6×7 ropes with fibre core, Ø3.0-5.0 mm: moderately flexible, for fencing, guy wires and construction work. Reels of 150-200 m.
  • 6×19 ropes with fibre core, Ø6.0-12.0 mm: 1+6+12 wire arrangement, for winches, construction machinery and agricultural use. Reels of 50-100 m.
  • 6×37 ropes with fibre core, Ø8.0-16.0 mm: for winches, davits and pulley systems. Factory reels of 50 m.
  • Single-strand ropes without core: 1×7 in Ø1.0 mm and 1×19 in Ø2.0 mm, for guying, bracing, balustrades and rigging. Reels of 200 m.

How to choose

  • Diameter: sizes run from Ø1.0 mm to Ø16.0 mm. Weight rises from approx. 0.005 kg/m to approx. 0.886 kg/m.
  • Construction: 6×7 is moderately flexible. 6×19 is soft and flexible. 6×37 is the most flexible of the classic ropes and runs easily over pulleys.
  • Core: the six-strand ropes have a fibre core (FC). The 1×7 and 1×19 single-strand ropes have no core.
  • Material and finish: all ropes use wire of 1770 N/mm² tensile strength with a zinc (Zn) coating against corrosion.
  • Intended use: several ropes are marked not for lifting persons. Check the product page before you specify one.

Typical applications

Thinner ropes in 6×7 and single-strand constructions are used for fencing, guy wires, mast bracing, suspensions and cable balustrades. Medium sizes in 6×19 suit construction machinery, winches and agricultural use. Thicker 6×37 ropes are used with winches, davits and pulley blocks, where flexibility over sheaves matters.

Frequently asked questions

How is the rope supplied?

It is sold by the running metre, and the ordered length is supplied in one piece. Factory reels are 50 m, 100 m, 150 m or 200 m, depending on diameter.

Which ropes suit fencing and guy wires?

The listings name fencing and guy wires for Ø3.0, Ø4.0 and Ø5.0 mm in 6×7. Ø1.0 mm 1×7 and Ø2.0 mm 1×19 single-strand ropes are named for guying and bracing.

Can these ropes be used to lift people?

Not where the product is marked otherwise. Several ropes, such as Ø8.0 mm 6×19 and Ø13.0 mm 6×37, are stated as not for lifting persons. Check each product page.
