Surge arrester Type 1+2 (B+C) 4P 50kA 1.2kV SPD MOV TN-S/TT network contact SPA931 by HAGER also known as a lightning arrester, is designed to protect electrical installations from surges. This device is based on spark gaps and/or varistors, which consist of a base and an insert containing a protective element.

Its function is to limit the voltage pulse caused by a direct or near lightning strike on a power line. In order to ensure full protection, a three-stage surge protection system is used when supplying power to facilities, consisting of type 1, 2 and 3 surge arresters (otherwise known as B, C, D), which must be installed in cascade.
