Description
Sectional Earth Rod with Morse Taper Lock ø16 x 1500 mm – Hot-Dip Galvanised Steel
Sectional earth rod with Morse taper lock is a key component of the vertical earthing system in lightning protection installations. Made from hot-dip galvanised steel, it guarantees long-term corrosion resistance even in aggressive soil conditions. Thanks to the self-locking Morse taper, individual segments connect firmly and reliably — both mechanically and electrically — eliminating the risk of loosening during years of service. This earth rod is designed specifically for our earth rod driver (symbol: 001-775), ensuring a perfect fit and full compatibility.

Design and Operating Principle
The Morse taper lock enables successive rod segments to be joined as the rod is driven into the ground. The connection is self-locking — the deeper the rod is driven, the tighter the taper grips, ensuring stable electrical contact along the full length of the assembly. The uniform rod diameter throughout its entire length allows continuous monitoring of earth resistance during driving — a significant advantage over solutions with additional couplers that increase the cross-section.
Technical Specifications
- Rod diameter (ø): 16 mm
- Segment length (L): 1500 mm
- Material: hot-dip galvanised steel (HDG)
- Lock type: Morse taper (self-locking)
- Segment weight: 2.4 kg
Application
The earth rod is intended for the construction of vertical earthing systems in lightning protection systems for buildings and industrial facilities. It is used to effectively dissipate lightning currents into the ground, minimising the risk of damage to electrical installations and ensuring the safety of the structure. The sectional design allows great driving depths to be achieved by joining successive segments — without the need for external couplers or sleeves.
Benefits for the Installer
- Fast installation — segments are joined by simply driving the Morse taper lock together
- No additional couplers — fewer components and lower material costs
- Uniform diameter throughout the full length — enables earth resistance measurement during driving
- Hot-dip galvanising — long-lasting corrosion protection with no additional maintenance required
- Compact segment dimensions of 1.5 m — easy transport and storage
