The FOX-S-BOX FOXESS switch is a specially designed device aimed at ensuring safety in photovoltaic installations in the event of failure or fire. It is a DC switch designed for PV photovoltaic systems with two MPPT at 1500V DC voltage, MC4 connector and motor-operated mechanism, with IP66 protection rating.
The main purpose of this switch is to rapidly disconnect the power supply in hazardous situations, which protects emergency personnel and minimises potential damage. In the event of a fire, there is a risk of dangerous situations related to current flow in the photovoltaic installation, even after disconnecting the DC current between the inverter and the panels.
This switch can be installed on two strings, which further increases its functionality and ability to adapt to specific installation requirements. In a situation where firefighters disconnect the alternating current (AC) before undertaking firefighting operations, the S-box series safety switch automatically detects the grid failure and disconnects the isolation switch, providing an additional layer of safety.
A key feature of this switch is its location close to the photovoltaic panel, which minimises the risk of serious hazards to firefighting crews and ensures the safety of the photovoltaic system. Thanks to this solution, rapid and effective response in emergency situations is possible, which translates into protection of people and property.
