Installation and application
Installation of the safety cable is simple and does not require specialist tools. The cable is secured at one end to the gate post and at the other to the leaf — using bolts with washers and nuts. Mounting holes should be drilled in the post and leaf frame, then bolts passed through the thimble eyes and the connections tightened. The cable should be installed with slight slack so as not to restrict normal gate movement whilst effectively stopping the leaf in case of hinge failure.
Safety protection is recommended for all swing gates — both single-leaf and double-leaf. For double-leaf gates, one cable should be used for each leaf.
