Comunello Albatros Piccolo is a complete, innovative hinge system designed specifically for folding (bifold) gates. Thanks to the fully suspended mechanism, the gate opens without a guide rail, which eliminates obstacles on the ground and significantly facilitates installation. The system guarantees smooth folding and unfolding of gate wings even in severely limited space — an ideal solution for properties with narrow driveways or lack of space for full swing gate opening.
Kit contents
The Albatros Piccolo system consists of three precisely matched components that together create a reliable folding gate mechanism:
- Lower hinge with gear and arm — mounted on the lower part of the gate wing, responsible for driving the folding; double-sided folding transmission arm connects to the bottom of the first wing
- Upper hinge with gear — mounted on the upper part of the gate at the post, synchronises the movement of both wings
- Adjustable bracket — mounted to the post, enables precise adjustment of the entire system after installation
Operating principle and installation
The system is completely trackless — the gate opens vertically without any guides on the ground. The double-sided folding drive arm is mounted on the bottom of the first wing and connects to the lower hinge. After mounting the adjustable bracket on the post, the installer gains the ability to precisely correct the gate positioning. The adjacent image shows the arrangement of individual system components on the gate — upper hinge at the top of the post, adjustable bracket in the middle, and lower hinge with arm at the bottom.
Maximum opening in minimum space
Thanks to the folding mechanism, the gate wings fold towards each other, occupying minimal space during both opening and closing. One set handles a gate with a total wing length of up to 4 metres and weight up to 100 kg. When using two sets of Albatros Piccolo, it is possible to operate a double-wing gate with a total length of up to 8 metres.
